At the request of the school’s different types of IQ tests can be marked. These tests and manuals are available from ACER directly.
The most commonly used tests are:
ACER General Select
A series of tests designed to assist teachers of students (approximately Year 2 to Year 10) in their assessment of students’ general reasoning ability. There are nine AGAT tests that have been developed especially for use in schools.
Each of the tests assesses students’ reasoning skills in three areas:
- Abstract (visual)
NFER Nelson (Verbal and Non-Verbal)
The Verbal Reasoning Test Series (VRT) measures a pupil’s ability to engage with the language medium in order to identify their wider reasoning ability and potential.
Verbal Reasoning highlights pupils’ skills in verbal thinking above and beyond their formal literacy abilities and can be used alone or as part of a wider assessment program. The results provide teachers with an indication of how a pupil assimilates new information that may not be evident from their usual class work.
